UPSO X Milos @madvillan Sweetening Up Peoples Day

I found Milos instagram page @madvillan sometime last year and instantly became a fan. He was going around Toronto giving strangers cookies and sweets to brighten or actually Sweeten up their day. I saw he was doing it completely unselfishly for free and to who ever commented on his page that they wanted it. All he asked was a photo in return.

Milos started his giveaways in may 2012, that lead to him posting his giveaways on Instagram for the first time on July 1st, 2012 but this time it was his tasty goodies that he bakes himself, was given to Chris from Doin It Well, A Toronto Streetwear brand, as well as Bryan Espiritu from Legends League on September 8th 2012. Many people from all over the GTA have been blessed by his cookies.

After a year he decided to reach out for sponsors to spice things up. Instead of money he reached out brands for what ever products brands can add to his giveaways. So naturally we where excited to get involved, Milos literally represents what Uplifted Society is about. Our give away month was this month, and the request was plentiful and actually was able to be given away with just a couple days. The photos bellow are all the people that not only got his increasingly famous cookies but some UPSO gear.

Follow @madvillan for future goodies and much more! If you want to reach out to Milos email sweetenupmyday@gmail.com

NEW TOP 5 ALBUMS OF 2013 LIST THAT NOBODY ASKED ME FOR

We reached out to Montreal producer and designer of Montreal based clothing line Pure Luck X (PLX) Imaan Browne to bless us with his top 5 albums list of 2013. He’s got a great ear for music and because he’s a music producer himself, he’s got vested interest in listening to great music. Check out his page for Pure Luck X here.

Enjoy the list!

1. Childish Gambino – Because The Internet

2. J. Cole – Born Sinner

3. Kanye West – Yeezus

5. Earl Sweatshirt – Doris

IT’S BEEN DONE! J. COLE HAS BEEN DETHRONED AS ALBUM OF THE YEAR! I’m not going to lie, I’m a big CG fan, having been listening to his music for some years now, but I NEVER EXPECTED THIS FROM HIM! This album puts the “yak” in “booyakasha”! Hahahah! I don’t think you’re going to hear an album more thought out and better put together than this project right here! I’m sure you’re going to hear the comparisons to Drake on being an “actor turned rapper”, even with the whole singing thing; just let it be known that he has said it more than once that he is NOT a rapper!

The list is primarily the same, with one album being taken off the list and another added, and that’s Shad’s “Flying Colors”. If you have not heard this album, you have surely missed out on a lyrical tyrant who abuses every beat he spits on! One standout track that is genius in its execution is “Progress (Part 1-American Pie, Part 2-The Future Is Here)”; take that track in and thank me later

Rounding off the list is my man Earl Sweatshirt with “Doris”. Seems Pusha T just couldn’t hang on with his album “My Name Is My Name”, though it was a tough battle indeed! Both him and Earl Sweatshirt came out with their debut albums, yet Earl came out completely different than what was expected of him. That project just knocks in so many ways, so I had to give the fifth and final spot to him

Well, that’s my final top 5 for 2013. It was a great year for music, with all of the giants in the game adding their piece of the pie.

Check out Imaan Browne’s music here.

UPSO X Kicks-Tix (TLK)

On November 9th we had a table during Air Canada Center’s (ACC) first Kicks-Tix Sneaker event, presented by FootLocker. Shout out to Toronto Loves Kicks for the assist on getting a table fairly last minute. Although it was a buy, sell and trade sneaker driven night, part of being fly is completing the kit. Needless to say the event was really dope, and it was interesting to see how big the sneaker community has gotten, and sharing history and stories on the sneaker culture we all love, all in the NBA’s Toronto Raptors front door.
